Notes from Mexico City Bodies Revealed Exhibition

Hello All,

I’m writing my first blog from a dark office deep in the bowels of the venue where I am consulting as General Manager for Bodies Revealed in Mexico City.  From my desk I see various cadavers (ahem…”specimins”) that represent different systems of the body…cardiovascular, reproductive, muscular, etc.

One of the biggest challenges thus far (aside from getting used to having these bodies as my neighbors), has been learning the medical terminology in Spanish so I can speak intelligently to the media.  Terms like vaseos sanguneos (blood vessels), tejido humano (human tissue) and El Proceso Polymerico (The Polymer Process) somehow didn’t get covered in my Spanish classes.

Dusting off the specimins with an air brush and writing up reports when the cuerpos start secreting strange liquids are also skills new to me.  But its a blast!  The local Mexicans are convinced that once we turn of the lights toff he cuerpos throw a big party and dance the night away.  The fact that the bodies shift positions overnight is their proof.

I’m considering hiding in my office one night to see if I can catch them at it.  If I’m lucky, they might just teach me how to Salsa.

Hasta pronto!

Paul
